Recreational activities for kids during the holidays | The Scenic South

Parents need not worry about how to keep their children entertained during the upcoming school holidays.?

The City of Cape Town?s Community Services Directorate will host a range of activities at many of its community centres, resorts, swimming pools, multi-purpose centres, sports fields, parks and libraries during the summer school holidays.

?

?Each of the six districts within the Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department will present programmes. They will use the services of volunteers to ensure that all of the programmes are effectively implemented. Our goal with these programmes is to encourage children from communities throughout the city to participate in sport, recreation and special events during the holiday period ? and in the long-term,? said the City?s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services, Councillor Tandeka Gqada.

?

The volunteer programme standardises volunteer recruitment and management procedures across Departments, and also makes volunteers feel valued in the organisation.

?

The Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department has planned approximately 500 holiday programmes which will run from 7 December 2012 ? 11 January 2013.
