Fisker Automotive's Executive Chairman Henrik Fisker Steps Down ...

Fisker Automotive?s Executive Chairman, Henrik Fisker himself, has stepped down from his position at the head of the company. The surprise announcement was apparently the result of major disagreements within the company with regards to business strategy.

The departure of one of the company?s co-founders is interesting, but according to the company, it will not have a significant impact on their operations. In a recent press release from Fisker Automotive, it was stated: ?The Company has a strong and experienced management team and its strategy has not changed. Mr. Fisker?s departure is not expected to impact the Company?s pursuit of strategic partnerships and financing to support Fisker Automotive?s continued progress as a pioneer of low-emission hybrid electric powertrain technology.?

Fisker was established as a company back in 2007, by co-founders Henrik Fisker and Bernhardt Koehler. Their first model, the Karma, was unveiled in 2008, and went on sale in 2011. The Karma is, so far, the only American car to have won the BBC Top Gear Luxury Car of the Year award. Fisker?s next model, the Atlantic, is currently expected to enter production by 2014?2015.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the near future with regards to Fisker Automotive. The rumor has been that the resignation was as a result of negotiations with the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China, the owners of Volvo, and their possible (or probable) takeover.

Have any additional info or thoughts on this sudden resignation that you?d like to share?
